Pre-school
Milton Keynes is predominantly a young city with 48% of the city's population aged under 35. To cater for the growing number of young families, there are many pre-school organisations available in and around the city. Several primary schools provide nursery education for 3 year olds and this provision is expanding within schools and with the growth in the number of private and voluntary nurseries.
Primary & Secondary Schools
Milton Keynes has a variety of schools to support the ever growing population. There are currently 91 Primary Schools, 14 Secondary Schools and 6 Special Schools, varying from those in rural settings catering for small numbers of pupils to larger schools catering for children in developed areas of the new city. Virtually all the residential grid squares in the new city have at least one school.
Higher & Further Education
Approximately 42,000 people in Milton Keynes and North Bucks already have a Higher Education qualification. In order to ensure a constant flow of available talent into local businesses there are four Universities located within Milton Keynes and North Bucks:

- The University of Buckingham
- Cranfield University
In addition, Milton Keynes College is the largest provider of further education and training in Milton Keynes with three dedicated campuses in the area.
