Milton Keynes gains Plugged-In Places grant
Government announced today that motorists will receive up to £5,000 to buy an ultra-low carbon car.
Plans for low carbon vehicles include the roll-out of a £30m Government fund for a network of electric vehicle hubs - called Plugged-In Places - which will see charging infrastructure appearing in car parks, major supermarkets, leisure and retail centres, as well as on the street.
The first Plugged-In Places were today named today as London, Milton Keynes and the North East; and between them they will be installing over 11,000 vehicle recharging points during the next three years.

Milton Keynes 'city to watch' says Centre for Cities report
Recession has bitten hardest in cities already ravaged by long-term industrial decline, exacerbating the divide between Britain's strongest and weakest regions, according to a thinktank report published today.
The areas that should thrive are those with what Finch calls fixed assets: a high skills base, good transport links, a location close to other prosperous urban areas, and so on. The report identifies Brighton, Milton Keynes and Reading as "cities to watch".

Having recently completed a two year build programme of The Pinnacle - a spectacular 206,000 sq ft office building on Midsummer Boulevard - the developer Hampton Brook and joint venture partners Aberdeen Property Investors hosted a reception to mark the official launch of the Pinnacle and provide food for thought for the guests.

Milton Keynes, the UK's fastest growing city, is featured prominently in the Centre's City Outlook 2010 report, for its high employment rate and the quality of its workforce.
